One of the most effective ways of providing people with a common language with which to make sense of the world around them is to use personal, team and organisational profiling.

For the business, profiling can be helpful in a range of applications from team building, management development or recruitment to cultural surveys and strategic planning. For the individual it can provide insights and knowledge that help with relationship-building, learning and personal development.

Commonly known as the Whole Brain Model, this tool has been used for over 25 years by organisations worldwide.

The beauty of the Model is its simplicity and adaptability. One of its most powerful uses is in providing individuals with a visual representation of their thinking preferences. This is achieved by completing a personal questionnaire, which is then translated into a ‘map’ made up of four principal thinking orientations, known as the four quadrants. Once people share the common language of the Model, they have the capacity to apply it to a range of business objectives at individual, team and organisational level.

Individuals benefit from enhanced problem-solving, idea-generation and self-awareness.

Teams and groups begin to develop a shared language and understanding which helps break down barriers and keep communications and thinking open and dynamic rather than stuck in familiar patterns.

And organisations often use the Model as a barometer of cultural development, to assess the current and desired future orientation of the business.
